At First, Necessary Tools List

Before starting your project few necessary tools are needed in the first place. I know you already have those but check my list if any tool is missing accidentally.

  • Paint Sprayer gun
  • Paint
  • Paint mask
  • Paint strainer
  • Safety goggles
  • Test board
  • Sprayer tips
  • Paint bucket
  • Paint thinner and water
  • Mixing paint bucket
  • Manufacturer instruction guides.

2. Choose the type of paint

The type of paint you want to use depends on how you mix it with other materials. The thinning process will ensure you how good your mix is.

Which materials are going to mix with which color is very important? For example, latex paint is blended easily with water. On the other hand, oil based paints aren’t enough for water thinning. Besides, you need mineral based thinning.

You should check your paint manufacturer guide or the label for knowing dilution Possibility. Because not all paints can be diluted. If you don’t want to lose the paint quality then confirm it first.

3. Wear Protective Gears for Safety

Before starting your paint job you should pay attention to your safety. Paint sprayers can emit various toxic chemicals during the paint, which can harm your lungs.

For example, Toxic fumes emitting oil based paints can damage your eyesight. So, you have to use protective goggles to protect your eyes from paints.

As well as if you work in an enclosed space you should use a face mask. But ensure a proper ventilation system in your working place.

4. Strain the Paint

Clogging paint is a common problem for sprayers. If you are a professional spray painter and use the best of the best sprayer, you will also face this problem. To less these difficulties you have to know the perfect process of straining.

However, properly straining may reduce the blocking issues. So, during strain your paint you should remove the lumps to shun clog of the paint sprayer.

Now simply pour the paint through the paint strainer and a fresh container. Once you do this you will be ready to mix colors.

5. Test Process

It is now time to do a test. Before you start the painting on your required surface, you have to judge your paint. First pour a little bit of paint in the container and spray it on a test board.

Now check the paint you already spray. If you see a perfect color combination, consistency and smooth finish, you may not do any mix with thinner. Otherwise, if you lose the consistency and the paint comes out thick and clod, the result means you have to go to the mixing unit.

6. Mix the Paint

Once you finish the testing process, you are ready for mixing the color. But adding mixing depends on your needs. First, take a bucket and pour as much as the paint you need for the job. After that thinning the color starts to add water, thinner or chemical. Diluted the paint based on how thick or thin your project paint will be.

A general mixing rule for latex paint is 1/4 cup water on 1 gallon of paint. And for oil based paint try to mix a small amount of thinner.

Remember, thinner is more offensive than water. So, in the beginning don’t mix too much of them. Otherwise, your paint will be too much diluted and will be unusable.

7. Clean the Tools

Cleaning is a must, if you want your tools to reuse and save from any damages. After finishing the project take off the sprayer and clean it with water. Pour water into the sprayer and spray it at zero. It will clean the nozzle and clear the passage from clog paint.
